About Us

OPEN BIBLE CHURCH

The church was started in May 1932 by youth evangelists who rented the Universalist Church building at 7th and Carroll St. in Boone for special services. One month later, June of 1932, they united with Open Bible Evangelistic Association in Des Moines, IA. In June 1938 the church chartered with Open Bible Standard Churches, Inc. in Des Moines, IA. The building was purchased in November 1946 from the First Universalist Society of Boone. In the spring of 1986, the church moved to its present facility at Hancock and Linn Streets. Fourteen lead pastors have served the church over 78 years.

Pastor Phil Waldo came to Boone in June of 1993 as our Youth Pastor under Bruce Pfadenhauer and was later promoted to Associate Pastor. In April of 2000, the Pfadenhauers moved to Rockford, Illinois and the church elected Phil as the new lead pastor.
